In life, there are people who purposefully try to put others down; sometimes it can also be accidental, habitual, or by mistake. Regardless, these individuals will be constant and they will plague your life. After a while, you can easily start feeling constantly sad. This is due to people bogging you down and making you feel stuck when it feels like too many people are against you. However, you cannot blame these people for essentially screwing you over. Instead, you can only blame yourself, because you always have the choice to make a change in your life.
You get to dictate what happens in your life
Every choice that you make will affect the events that occur in your life and the outcomes. If you decide to work out every day, then you will see a physical change in your body. If you invest your money in a stable company, you will see growth in the stocks and you will receive dividends. If you choose to hang around toxic and negative friends, then you will become more like them. You become like the people you surround yourself with. Because of these choices, you cannot blame others for the current situation or the future outcomes of your life. YOU can change it all.
You cannot blame your parents for not being rich enough or the government not helping you or you receiving a poor education. You have the choice to make the change. You have a voice, a mind, and the ability to do so much more. If you do not want your future kids or family to experience your struggles, then make the decision to change it. Be the generation in your family to say enough is enough.
Right now, I want you to sit down and write/type out 3 possible futures: if you keep on your current path, if you change your path to pick up a new skill, and to stop doing whatever you are doing now.
- If you keep on your current path: examine what you are doing right at this moment. If you are learning a new skill or reading a bunch of personal development books, what will it do for you? Will it help advance your career? Will it prove to yourself that you can do anything? What impact are you having in your life?
- If you change your path to learn something new: think about what you can do to create a change in your life. How are you going to pivot? Will that change bring about joy and success? Will it bring about hardships that are not worth it? Will deciding to spend an extra hour at work bring in financial gains? Will drinking more water help you with your heath? How is making a change going to affect you?
- If you stop doing whatever you are doing now: is it worth it to keep going? Will stopping make your life so much better? Will you become happier? Will your finances suffer?
You have a choice to make a change in your life. Examine what is happening in your life and ponder on the future. Focus on the here and anticipate what will come at you. History tends to imitate itself, so there is so much empirical evidence that can help you make a decision.
Change your life by making the choice
You can never blame someone else for your past, current, or future situations. You have the opportunity to make a choice and change your life. That excuse that you give yourself saying that you are “stuck” or that the “world is against me” is false. It is a lie that your head feeds you. You cannot blame others for your problems and failures. This is the time you need to learn from your mistakes and grow. Be the change in your life.
