It is so easy to default to think about problems and I am completely guilty of this. Sometimes, all I see are the problems and they just keep stacking on top of each other. I know you have had moments like this before as well. But, let us be honest with ourselves, moments like this absolutely suck. They are the worst, so why do we choose to keep them? Also, do you know how to get out these moments? Or do you like to continue to wallow in this pain and misery? No shame if you do, because we all do it as it brings our life stability even though it is harmful for us. We could be having the worst time in the world, but we choose to stay in these moments and we can stay in these states of mind for years. Even though it hurts, we prefer to be attached to the pain rather than rising above; and deep down, all we want is someone to come save us. It feels like no one is coming, because no one is coming. You need to make the first move in helping yourself. No one is going to come help you, because they are struggling with their own problems. There might be someone who can come help you, but they can only help. In the end, you have to make a decision to rise above. To do this, you need to switch your mindset to a positive one that focuses on solutions rather than cherry picking every single problem in your life. By choosing solutions over problems, your life will change for the better.
How to come up with solutions
When you find yourself in a state where you are just simply thinking of problems, I want you to shake your life up for a split moment. This could be anything, but just be spontaneous. Some things I like to do is the following: drop down on the floor and do 40 pushups, go for a run, close my eyes and take several deep breathes, and play a song on the piano while I sing. Just keep in mind that it cannot be something that is extremely easy, mundane, and something that you would already do on a daily basis. So, this means that you cannot just go on your phone, scroll through social media, window shop on whatever website, or play a video game. You need something that will get you moving or thinking differently. Once you have done something spontaneous, I want you to identify your smallest problem. For example, just the other day, I did not have the energy to do anything and I saw my to-do list as a total problem. So I identified what I saw was going to be the easiest thing I could get done, which was to clean up my desk (my desk is usually pretty clean, so this was an extremely easy task for me). After identifying what I could accomplish with the least amount of hassle, I figured out how I was going to do it and that I was going to do it at that instance. Then guess what I did? I simply just did it. Cleaning up my desk took me less than 5 minutes, but doing this one thing help set me in motion. From there I was able to start tackling each problem that I had. Essentially, a domino effect started to ensue. This is what I strongly suggest for you to start doing with your life.
1. Mentally reset yourself
2. Identify your easiest problem and figure out how you are going to solve it
3. Do it and move on to your next easiest problem
If you follow these steps, I guarantee that your problems will start looking easy. After that, you will start thinking about how you can solve your problems instead of seeing them as just problems. Keep in mind that sometimes it will be hard and it will not always be instantaneous, but you need to change your mindset as this will be the only thing that can push you out of negative states.
Your mindset will guarantee your success
By training your mind to think about solutions instead of dwelling on your problems, you will be able to ease your mind. When you train your mind to think about the solutions, then you will rise above whatever problems that you have. To do this, you need to first mentally reset yourself by getting your body moving or doing something that you usually do not do. Once you do that, identify your easiest problem and just do it. After that, you will see a domino effect and you will effortlessly move from one problem to another. Your life will change for the better as soon as you start switching your mindset.
